The East coast Inn was built in 1952 by a dutch entepreneur. The hotel was then used as a cafe and in 1983 it was transformed into a hotel/restaurant with accommodation. The present owners, Jim & Amy McDougall, have got their hammer, nails and paintbrushes out again and are giving the wonderful hotel a facelift. The existing restaurant is being extended and a new large inviting fireplace is soon to be installed. The swiimming pool area is going to be transformed into a huge outdoor entertainment area along with the other garden bar. There will be glass fencing installed along with some attractive decking.
The hotel is open daily from 9.00 am until really late. Your hosts Jim & Amy promise you great service and country hospitality when you visit their establishment.
The East Coast Inn has three motel units in the same complex. Built in the 1950's, they offer a warm cozy place to stay. The location of the complex on SH1, Ward, is close to major tourist destinations such as Kaikoura to the North and Blenheim and Picton to the South. It is less than an hours drive to the InterIsland ferry terminal and only half an hour from Blenheim airport. Accommodation tariffs are extremely well priced at only $75.00 per night and an additional $15.00 per extra guest. All the rooms have FREEVIEW TV along with tea and coffee making facilities.
