Blaycliff Apiaries Limited was started in 1999 and is owned and operated by Darren Clifford.
Blaycliff runs some 2500 hives as well as a Queen rearingunit. Our hives are sited on some 30 rural properties situated in the
Marlborough region – extending from the far reaches of the MarlboroughSounds to the High Country of the Awatere Valley and then through to the Nelson Lakes District.
Blaycliff Apiaries is situated at 829 Taylor Pass Road in Marlborough wherethere is a purpose built factory. There is a very experienced field team of seven trained beekeepers and one trainee beekeeper who work the hives
year round and also a beekeeper who runs the queen rearing unit. We run a fleet of 4 field vehicles, fully equipped for hive manoeuvring and transportation.
Our field team often spend 2-3 nights away during the season.
From December each year our honey is harvested by our field staff and then processed by our sister company The Honey Company. This company is responsible for the extraction, storage and marketing of our honey. Honey alone is not our only business – we also supply local beekeepers with bulk sugar.
